Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is designed to use the spine as a tool to access and affect the nervous system in beneficial ways. When we use our hands or an instrument, our goal is to positively impact and change the output of the nervous system through spinal adjustment.

The Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Our patients often experience better immune function, less pain, fewer headaches, more energy, and better sleep, however the benefits of chiropractic care are different for everyone and often depend on your unique condition and lifestyle.

When our patients first arrive, we offer immediate corrective care to help address the specific reason that they came in and help get them out of pain quickly if we can. Because we want our patients to benefit from less pain as soon as possible, this level of care is often more intensive and more frequent. Once we are able to manage pain or deal with the specific condition you came in for, we offer maintenance or wellness care.

We greatly encourage patients simply seeking maintenance or wellness care without an immediate health concern to come in, as we find this type of care can often set you up for greater long-term health and a happier, higher quality of life!

We primarily use the Thompson Drop chiropractic technique for our adult patients. This technique involves the use of a drop table that allows the patient to raise or lower themselves and helps them get on and off the table with ease. We like to use this technique because it allows us to use less force with the help of the table.

We also use very low force adjusting designed to take stress off of the nervous system with as minimal input as possible. We use the Activator technique for pediatric patients or adults who require a very gentle approach, which relies on the use of a low force instrument. We use the Webster technique for prenatal patients as well, and hold advanced certifications in this technique.

We generally prefer low force, gentle techniques that don’t require the aggressive popping, cracking, or twisting you may associate with normal chiropractic care. We explain the technique that we are using on you in full, so you can determine if you are comfortable enough to proceed. We work very hard to make our patients feel comfortable prior to adjustment, so rest assured your anxieties will be addressed before we do anything at all.

How often will I need to come?

Anyone under corrective care will be here around 2-3 times per week, for about 2-6 weeks. While we typically start you off with a couple of visits a week, frequency will decrease as you progress through care and start to hold your adjustments better. Once you have entered the maintenance phase of your care, you may come as frequently as once a week or as infrequently as once a month, depending on what you and your doctor determine is best for you.
If I get a chiropractic adjustment, will I have to get them for life?

You won’t “have” to go forever if you go once, but most people do see the value and benefits of regular care when they start going. Chiropractic care is not something anyone has to do or continue doing, but many patients find great relief in regular adjustments.
Will it hurt?

Your body is unique, so we can’t speak to how you specifically will feel after an adjustment. Most people, however, would say that adjustments do not hurt, and in fact feel quite good and often offer immediate relief. There may be soreness after the first few visits for the next day or so, but pain is not common.
Is there any aftercare required?

If aftercare is required, your doctor will outline exactly what you need to do. Aftercare often involves exercises, traction, or outside interventions that we assign, explain, or refer out for.
